Custom Reports

Designers can build reports allowing their users to send a set of data to a pdf file. This is the ideal solution for printing or sharing information with users outside of the DataVoke solution.

Create a New Report from the Create a New menu in DataVoke. Then use collapsible groups to define the sections you want to print.

Creating a New Report

The DataVoke Report View is created with the view type, Report View and cannot be changed. In turn, an existing non-report view cannot be converted to a Report View type.

Select and add all desired properties to be represented in the report, 'Finish & Load'.

Enter Design Mode
Using the DataVoke Toolbox, you can customize the report just as you would any DataVoke View.

Insert Images and Labels into 
the Report and Page Headers.

Insert Labels, Images, Grids and/or Fields 
to the Detail section of the report view.

Print to PDF.png
When customization is complete, Commit the view.
To finish, select 'Print to PDF' to have your view rendered to a PDF.

Add styles to customize the look of your report like any other view.

Sections of a Report

Page Area

  • A visual representation for the size of the selected paper.
  • This area can be modified by selecting your Page Size.
  • Default margins are applied in the Page Area.
  • A visual representation of the area that the report and information will be placed.
  • This area can be modified by changing the margins.

Information set here will be printed at the top of all pages of the report

  • This area may include:
    • Title
    • Date
    • Column Headers
  • Sections, such as Report Header/Footer, can be added by inserting a New Collapsible Group.
  • Sections such as Page Header can be removed by dragging it to the Red X.

Detail

  • Shows the detail available in the selected view on which the report is based.
  • Modified by updating the information in the referenced view or with the Report Editor.
  • Properties are not added by default to the detail section of the report.

Column Headers will automatically generate in the report header if a grid spans multiple pages.

Information set here will be printed on the bottom of each page in your report.

This area may include:

  • Current Page / Total Pages.
  • Author or Owner details.
  • Solution or View details for user reference.

Use the text below as the expression on a new label.

Report Header

  • This section can be added manually by inserting a new group from the editor.
  • Information set here will print only on the top of the first page of the printable report.

This area may include:

  • Report Title
  • Logo
  • Date
  • This section can be added manually by inserting a new group from the editor.
  • The report footer shows on the bottom of the last printable page.

Report Editor

  • The Report Editor can be opened by toggling Design Mode on.  
  • Select the Page Area and click the edit button on the layout editor.
  • Settings will be applied to all pages of the current report.
  • Page Size: Select the printable page size for the final pdf.
  • Orientation: Select Portrait or Landscape orientation.
  • Margin: Enter the margin size as an integer, in pixels.

Tips and Tricks

  • Grids will be populated by the Property information stored on the Record in the source view.
  • Styles can be applied to Reports just as you would any other View.
